The April showers continue to hit our area. This past Monday had to be one of the coldest rainy day we have had in a long time. Hopefully the weekend sounds like it will be a bit better.
The weather report shows warming temperatures for later in the week. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope that it will truly be the start of real spring weather.

April 1 St. is Easter Sunday. Part of the tradition of this holiday is giving flowers. In particular, people will give the spring flowering bulbs as Easter gifts. This would include tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, crocus and of course Easter Lilies.
I would guess that none of could believe that we are having the 4Th. northeaster of the month of March. I don’t know if that is any kind of record but I am sure that if it is a record it isn’t a record that we are willing to celebrate.
I don’t think that anyone had a clue that the snowstorm last week would create so much devastation to the trees in our area. At home, we lost 2 major limbs on one dogwood and 2 major branches on our ornamental flowering plum.
Two weeks ago, many people were talking about an early spring this year. You may want to unfriend those people on social media! Another Wednesday snowstorm for this week and possibly another snowstorm for Monday. When it comes to spring weather, I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas.
The first day that this column appears in the newspaper is the last day of February. With any luck, March will be kind to us and the weather will hopefully get progressively warmer through the month of March.
It’s not Spring! In all my years, Spring has never arrived in February. As a matter of fact, the official first day of Spring arrives in March and that day usually is not spring type of weather.
We are now in the middle of February. I have some good news for you. It is time to start gardening. No, you are not going to fill the window boxes with geraniums. No, you are not going to plant the tomato plants in the garden.
